Carolina Speech Pathology is proud to announce a new dysphagia course this year! Dysphagia 2020: A Whole Patient Approach to Care will take place in Raleigh, NC on May 15, 2020.
Want to up your medical SLP game? This fast-paced education and networking symposium provides updates on using a “whole patient” approach evaluating and treating dysphagia in the adult patient across medical settings. Normal swallowing will be reviewed. Making recommendations with your patients, while honoring their wishes, will be discussed. An overview of esophageal considerations will be included. The importance of lab values and considerations of the whole body will be discussed. Tools for determining treatment options following the principals of motor learning are provided. A workshop on utilizing motivational interviewing, an effective tool in engaging the patient with treatment, is included. Finally, optional lively round table discussions will take place at the end of the course where participants can engage directly with each instructor. This course is offered for up to 0.95 ASHA CEUS (Intermediate level, Professional Area).
This will be a full day loaded with information that you can take with you to work on Monday. Helpful handouts will be included. Lunch is also provided. During the round table discussions, hors d’œuvres, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options will also be included.
