This program is geared toward clinicians who are FEES competent who want to sharpen their scoring and interpretation ofFEESexams. A review of scoping techniques to achieve optimal view will be covered. Updates in research, protocols, scoring and interpretation will be introduced, as well as updates in using endoscopy to guide treatment. Participants will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills by practicing scoring recorded FEES exams. Case studies will be provided with treatment considerations. This course is offered for 0.75 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level; Professional Area).

Learning Outcomes:

  8. Describe new uses of endoscopy as a biofeedback tool.


About the Instructor:


Dr. Susan Langmore, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S pioneered the implementation of fiberoptic endoscopy for the evaluation of swallowing. She has used FEES with all types of adult patients and dysphagia etiologies, and has worked in ICU, inpatient, outpatient, and nursing home settings. Dr. Langmore is a Professor of Otolaryngology at Boston University. She has multiple ongoing research projectsand lectures internationally on dysphagia.
